Depend on the Lord

Posted on

Depend on the Lord in whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 16:3

If we don’t depend on the Lord, then how strong is our faith? We need to depend on the Lord for everything because if we pick and choose, we can drift toward depending more on self and less on Christ. When we depend on Christ for everything. then we will walk in God’s power and wisdom, and we will reflect Christ in all situations.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) When we depend on Christ for all things, we have divine power, wisdom, and love to overcome the world. We are no longer slaves to the world because Christ has set us free, and Christ is the only one who can set us free.

Obeying God’s commands can be difficult in our own power, that is why we pray for the Lord’s power to help us to obey as we strive to obey. When we pray for the Lord’s help in doing his will, and we strive to obey his will, then we are in agreement with Christ and he will change us to obey his will. The Lord love enters our hearts when we follow the Spirit, and as hearts get filled with God’s love, all the Lord’s commands will become natural and desirable. That is why love is the most important command.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31)

We depend on the Lord for escaping temptations, because we need his power to overcome the power of our fleshly desires. If we realize the Lord’s power is stronger that our sinful desires, we can escape temptations. The more of God’s love we have in our hearts, the more divine power we have to overcome evil, and less power our flesh has in controlling us.

The Lord will guide us through each step of our day if we depend on him by praying for his guidance.  We may seek to guide ourselves by following the Word, but we need Christ with us to point out someone he wants us to minister. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) When our minds are governed by our flesh, will we probably miss many opportunities to minister to someone, but if our minds are governed by the Spirit, we will look for someone to minister.

Today be mindful to depend on Christ for everything, including your life, and the blessings of the day. Go through the day depending on Christ to guide to do the Father’s will.

Prayer: Lord help to always depend on you for everything, and take nothing for granted. In Jesus name, Amen
