Wisdom From the Spirit

Posted on

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.

1 Corinthians 2:6-7

When we know the Word and follow the Spirit, we can walk in Godly wisdom.  For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 2:11) The Spirit of God lives in us and communicates with us through the Holy Spirit. The Word is the language of God and opens the door for Christ to guide us through the Spirit.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5) If we desire Godly wisdom we ask the Lord, and he will give us wisdom. We pray for wisdom that we need to serve the Lord, and to teach people about the good news of Christ.  We need wisdom from God when ministering to others, especially when answering their questions

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. (James 3:17) Godly wisdom is described in the above verse, that we show in all situations. We have love and compassion for everyone, and never reveal anger at people, but we respond with Godly wisdom. Godly wisdom comes from a calm spirit and not from an emotional response.

What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:12) Wisdom comes from what God did for us through Christ and from the Father and the Son making their home with us. Jesus replied, anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. (John 14:23) We have the Father and the Son making their home with us, we have the Holy Spirit, and we the language of God, the Word.  We need to remain connected to Christ through the Spirit so we can live in Godly wisdom.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. (James 3:13) Godly wisdom comes from a heart of God’s unconditional love, a heart that cares about everyone. Our good deeds come from obeying the commands being a light for Christ, pointing people to Christ. Good deeds come from a humble heart that gives all the glory to God.

Today pray for Godly wisdom, and reveal Godly wisdom with a calm attitude and with a heart of God’s love. Be patience in everything you do and never rush, because rushing can cause peace in our hearts to disappear.

Prayer:  Lord I pray for Godly wisdom and I pray for guidance by the Spirit that I might reveal your wisdom with a heart of love and compassion.  I Jesus name, Amen
