Where is Your Security

Posted on

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Where is your security, is it a job, possessions, money, relationships, or good health? Our security can be described by what we trust to provide for our well-being and what gives us well-founded confidence and peace. How do we find confidence and peace when we hear about the troubling things in the world every time we listen to the news or read the newspaper. According to Biblical prophecy the world may not get any better in the last days. But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. (2 Timothy 3 1-4)

If our security is in money, job, relationships, or anything worldly, then what happens when we lose our job, lose our money, or lose a relationship? What happens to our security?  Life brings trials and tribulations, and we can lose our worldly security. How can we truly live secure in a world threatened by wars, economic collapse, or major disasters?

If we believe in Christ, we can overcome every trial and tribulation that Satan puts in front of us. We can’t fight Satan with anything worldly. If the worldly things are our security, Satan’s goal is to use those things against us to steal our soul. If Christ is our security, our worldly blessings will be used for his glory, with his promise to provide. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)

How can we have security in this troubled world if we are not confident of our eternal life in heaven?  I have personally found that my security is really grounded in knowing that whatever happens in this life is temporary, and eternal life awaits me, where life is perfect forever. Accepting Christ as our Savior and being filled with the Holy Spirit, we know heaven is our home.

Today walk with the Lord, commune with him and know he is with you every second of the day and desires to help you in every situation you experience. Invite him into your life and seek his divine guidance, his divine love, and his divine power. The Lord desires to be close to you and to help you, and to keep you secure in every detail of your life.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to live this day with thankfulness for eternal life waiting for me.  Place eternity in my heart with understanding this life is temporary, and that you will guide my through this life to my last breath. Fill my heart with peace and joy and take away any fear that Satan tries put in my heart, in his attempt to steal my security in you.  In Jesus Name, Amen
