Where is Your Home?

Posted on

Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

1 John 2:15-17

Love for the world indicates that our focus in more on the world than it is on eternal life. When our soul is satisfied by the Spirit, we enjoy life in the world, but we don’t see this world as our home.  Our home is Heaven, and we live every day following Christ toward our eternal life.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18) We fix our eyes on what is unseen, Heaven, and not on what is temporary, earthly life. However, the Lord has made it possible for our soul to live in the Kingdom while our flesh lives in the world.

The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20-21) The Kingdom of God is within us, which means our soul can live in the Kingdom while we live in this world.  This is how Christ sets us free; we witness to the world from the Kingdom, which means we interface to the world through the Spirit.

The more we witness to people the more love is made complete in us, bringing us closer to the Lord. And the closer we are the more we want to be with the Lord. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. (Philippians 1:22-24) The apostle Paul lived in the Kingdom close to the Lord, and desired to depart and be with Lord which is better by far. With the desire in our hearts, through prayer, and witnessing to others; our attitude will be the same as Paul.

Nothing brings us closer to the Lord than following the Spirit, being Light for Christ witnessing to world. Our hearts get filled with the Lord’s love, and love connects to the Lord.  If people know we are Christians motivated to bring Christ to people, the door will open to teach a class, or minister to someone. Nothing is more fulfilling than bringing God’s truth to people, especially when teaching a Bible class.

Today know this life is temporary and Heaven is your true home. Heaven is infinitely better than living on earth, and we will be with the Father and the Son. Live today for eternal life.

Prayer:  Lord guide me to serve You by witnessing to people with a heart of love and compassion. Be with me throughout the day as I strive to everything according to your will. In Jesus name, Amen
