What is the Power of the Holy Spirit?

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

Ephesians 3:20

The power we have through the Holy Spirit is the power that comes from our Lord: it’s his power coupled with our faith. We realize the power in the Holy Spirit when we have the faith to step out and follow the Lord’s will.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) Satan tries to limit God’s power in our lives through fear, because it can weaken our faith. But if, through a sound mind, we know the perfect love the Lord has for us, our faith will be strengthened. The spiritual war is against the fear Satan tries to instill in us verses the love the Lord puts in our hearts.

Fear is overcome by love, and the more of God’s love we have in our hearts, the less fear we have. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear. (1 John 4:18). As our love increases, our fear decreases because love brings us closer to the Lord. The closer we are to the Lord, the more we walk as Jesus walked with faith motivated by love.

We experience the power of the Holy Spirit when our hearts are filled with the Lord’s love enabling us to follow the Spirit through faith. Then, we will experience the power of the Spirit guiding us through the Word to point lost souls to Christ. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8) The power in the Spirit is the power to be a witness for Christ to lost souls in this world. It’s the motivation and love that has us following the Spirit to bring the Lord’s salvation to lost souls.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) The power is realized when we live for Christ putting him first. The Spirit guides us through life providing for our needs, as the Lord goes with us and goes before us.

Today, know the power you have in the Spirit to be a powerful witness for Christ. Refuse to entertain any fear Satan tries to put in your heart and stand strong in the Lord’s love. Live free as the Lord’s servant, and take everything to the Lord in prayer.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for being with me through the Spirit and helping me to have the faith to live in your power. Drive away any fear from Satan with your perfect love in my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen
