We Live in God’s Family
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,John 1:12
Being in the family of God is very great blessing, having God as our perfect Father where all things are possible. In the family of God, we are protected from the evil one and we will never be tempted beyond our ability to overcome. We are set free and we overcome the world through his divine power. Christ lives in us through the Spirit and he guides us through life to our eternal home in Heaven.
Living in the family of God is something that we should always know in our hearts, because being children of God we should obey the Father and reflect his character. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. (1 Corinthians 12:26) God’s family is a tight group held together by hearts of love, and we are all connected through prayer. God’s family is all over the world, and we keep track of Christians throughout the world because they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. We help them whatever way we can, and we always pray for everyone in the family. We have a desire to know how all God’s people are doing, just like all in our immediate family.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philippians 3:20) Since we are in the family of God, we are all remember that our citizenship is in Heaven, and this world is not our home. We are eternally minded and we view everything we do has having eternal consequences. We live each day serving the Lord because he will lead us down the narrow road to eternal life.
It’s important to remember that we are in the family of God, because it will help us to live always trying to please the Father; and we do this by following Christ through the Spirit. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24) If we do our best to follow Christ, we will be pleasing to the Father.
Today remember you are in the family of God, and reflect the mind and heart of Christ. As you go through your day, ask the Lord to guide you, so you will reflect his wisdom and compassion.
Prayer: Lord, help me to always remember that I am in your family and help me to follow Christ in everything I do. In Jesus name, Amen
