We Live Forever

Posted on

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:28

Every person will live for eternity. The question is – where? With the Father and the Son? Or with Satan and his demons? Christians know their home is in Heaven and that the Lord will let no one snatch us out of His hand.  The Lord will give us whatever we need to endure this world to our last breath.

The day we accept Christ as Lord and Savior with a repentant heart, we start our eternal life. What we must remember is that eternal life is in our spiritual soul, and not in the flesh. At our last breath, our body dies, and our soul leaves the body.  Yet, we are still alive. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 ESV) Those who haven’t accepted Christ as their Savior are living in sin.  We either live for Christ or we live for Satan; there is no other choice. Either choice, our soul lives forever.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) We live serving Christ on this earth, and he fills our hearts with his love which draws us closer to the Father and the Son. Ministering to the world causes us to depend on the Lord because we see we are nothing without Christ. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) We are called to bear fruit, and we must depend on Christ being with us as we minister to others. When we live to serve Christ, his love changes our hearts, and we are drawn to be with the Father and the Son.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30) Our souls are at rest because we know Heaven is our eternal home.  His burden is light because we are motivated by a heart of love and all God’s commands are natural to us. Our hearts desire to serve the Lord.

We start our eternal life now and God fills our souls with blessings from Heaven. We live with a heart of love, peace, joy, and with total faith in God. The Lord changes our hearts to the heart of Jesus, we live to serve the Lord, and we overcome the fear of physical death.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) We live this earthly life to full, knowing our eternal home is in Heaven where life is forever perfect.

Today, know you will live forever in your Heavenly home with the Father and the Son and realize this world is not your home. Spend your time on earth serving the Lord being a light on a hill.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for eternal life and I pray my life is always pleasing to you. Guide me in the Spirit to serve Christ, my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
