We Live for Our Eternal Spirit

Posted on

As the body without the spirit is dead.

James 2:26

Our body is dead without our spirit, because life is in our spirit; it’s our thoughts, personality, and will. When our flesh dies, we are still alive in the spirit. When Christ returns, we will have a younger perfect eternal body that never ages and never has any sickness or pain. We will live in Heaven in a perfect world with the Father and the Son. Therefore, should our life be governed by this temporary worldly life, or governed by the Spirit for a perfect eternal life in the Heavenly world?

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) We live in this world and we have to work to survive. However, whatever we do in this world we do for Christ, and we fulfill our divine assignment from God while living on this planet. When we do everything for Christ, we tend to do everything better, and we have the Lord’s divine help. Therefore, we can live in this world with the Lord’s guidance and help, and at the same time we are living for eternity.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29) When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, are being molded by God to reflect Jesus in everything we do. This is our calling in life, reflect Jesus by being a light on a hill. We live in this world as a light for Christ, and we live for our eternal life.

The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. (Proverbs 10:22) When we live for our eternal spirit, we live serving the Lord, and he continual fills our spirit with blessings from Heaven. These blessings are love, peace, comfort, faith, Godly wisdom, patience, plus whatever blessing he knows we need. These divine blessings get stronger as we get closer to the Lord.

We will never get these blessing from the world, because everything from the world only satisfies the flesh temporarily.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) These are words of Christ spoke to the Pharisees who were believing Satan’s lies, and many people today are believing the same lies. Satisfying our spirit is achieved only from God, and can never be achieved through the flesh.

Today live for your eternal soul, because this worldly life is like vapor. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14) Live for eternal life.

Prayer:  Lord guide my life to be focused on my eternal soul, and not focused on my temporary fleshly life. In Jesus name, Amen
