We Live by Faith

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Faith is critically important because it’s shows how well we know and trust God, therefore it is important that our faith is pleasing to God. The book of Job will give us a divine understanding of faith.

Job lost everything at one time, as servants bought tragedy in rapid sequence. He lost his children, his servants, and his farm animals. Job grieved over his loss but he remained faithful, but he didn’t understand why all this tragedy was happening. God answered Job with the following: Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said: “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?” (Job 38:1-2) God never gave Job a reason for his tragedy, but instead he asked Job questions if he knew all things about God. And after God questioned Job, he answered: You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. (Job 42:3) After Job’s tragedy, God blessed him with more that he had before.

This story of Job reveals the faith that is pleasing to God. Our faith is to always trust God’s ways no matter what happens in this short earthly life, because we cannot understand all of God’s divine ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) This verse tells us that we only know God in part, and in Heaven we will know in full. We must accept the fact that we cannot understand all his thoughts and ways, because he is God, but he has given us his Word, which is sufficient knowledge to reap the reward of being with Father and the Son in Heaven. We know enough about God from his Word that our faith will put his will over our will.

Being eternally minded enables us to compare this short earthly life to our eternal life. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) If we live for eternity our we will live with faith in the Lord, and we live to do everything by serving Christ. Our faith will be pleasing to God because God is our judge for our eternal life.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13) As we serve the Lord by following the Spirit, our hearts get filled with God’s divine love. A heart of love draws closer to the Lord and enables us know him. And love is what motivates to do everything we can through Christ to bring people to God. Then are faith will become stronger and we will depend on Christ for everything.

Today ask God to make your faith pleasing to him, then you will be free in Christ. Live today trusting and depending on the Lord for everything.

Prayer:  Lord I pray that my faith is pleasing to you, if not change me and make my faith pleasing to you. In Jesus name, Amen
