We Have the Power of God

Posted on

And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Ephesians 3:20-21

With the power of God, we overcome Satan’s temptations, and we overcome our own sinful desires.  We depend on God and call on Him whenever we are tempted. When the temptation comes from our sinful will and excites our emotions; and we see it as sin, and we know it displeases God.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) We are in God’s family, and we have His divine power to overcome all evil. We have the power of God to walk in victory, but sometimes Satan tempts us as an angel of light, and he plays with our own justification. He can deceive us by using our justification against us, causing us to sin without even knowing we are sinning.

And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 10:38-39) This verse implies we lose our sinful life, and we are new creation in Christ. We have the power of God within us, and we can overcome all sin, even to our physical death.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) Our body is part of the world, and it cannot go to Heaven. Our life is in our soul (our spirit), and our soul never dies.  As the body without the spirit is dead… (James 2:26) The body dies but our soul lives forever, and when Christ returns, we get a new body that never ages and has no pain, and our home is in Heaven where life is perfect forever.

As Christians we live for eternity, because we know this world is not our home, we are citizens of Heaven, temporarily living in this world as ambassadors for Christ. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20) This verse describes the reason we are living on this earth.

Today live with the power of God to overcome the sinful world and be an ambassador for Christ. And living for Christ is what we are created to do, and it is the most fulfilling life that we can live.

Prayer: Guide me to live for eternity in Heaven, and live on this planet as ambassador for Christ, ministering to the world through Your divine power. In Jesus name, Amen.
