We Have Power Over Satan

Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.”

Christ has the power of God, and He has total power over Satan and his demons, because God created all things and has power over all things. And God has given us his power to overcome Satan and his demons, because Christ lives in us. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.  (John 10:28) God’s power works through us, so nothing will keep us from our eternal home in Heaven, with Father and the Son.

The difficulty is overcoming our own sinful will, because Satan is tempting us to walk away from God by living in sin. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.  (Romans 8:6) Our sinful nature is from our flesh and we are at war, flesh verses Spirit. Satan is ruler of the world and tempts us to live by our sinful fleshly desires, but our power comes from Christ through the Spirit to overcome our own sinful desires. Christ has complete power over Satan, and we have Christ’s power to overcome all temptations, and we learn to fight this spiritual war. This is a great asset for us, we can overcome Satan and evil people with the power of Christ. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) We believe this verse in our hearts and we will have the Lord’s power to overcome the world. True Christians are the most powerful people on the planet because we have Christ’s power to overcome.

With Christ living in us, there is nothing in life that we can not overcome, even though we can never be perfect living in this flesh.  The biggest battle we face in this life is learning to control our thoughts and emotions, because Satan will use our flesh against us, causing us to self-destruct. Satan tempted Jesus three times: to overcome his hunger, protect his flesh, and having all the kingdoms; all things to please the flesh. But Jesus responded with scripture and Satan fled.  This is given in Matthew 4:1-11. We fight Satan the same way Jesus fought Satan, with scripture. Satan knows our weakness therefore we prepare for his attack by having scriptures ready in our minds, or written down for handy access. We pray for Christ and his power, and we ask the Lord for scriptures that will make Satan flee.

Today: Remember Christ gives us his power to overcome Satan, but we must learn to use this divine power. Prepare your battle plan in prayer, seeking scriptures from the Lord, writing them down, and using them make Satan flee. And there is great reward in overcoming Satan and living in victory.

Prayer:  Help me to live in your power to overcome evil, and power to be a light in this world. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) Lord help to live this verse because if I am doing good, I’m not doing evil. In Jesus name. Amen
