We are Spiritually Alive

Posted on

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

John 6:63

The traits of those who are spiritually alive and mature in Christ, as compared to those who are spiritually dead, is like the difference between night and day. Those who are spiritually alive are filled with the Holy Spirit and Christ lives in their hearts. With hearts filled with God’s love, we seek to tell lost souls that eternal life comes from Christ. This is life that comes from the Spirit, while the spiritually dead express no concern about eternal life of others.

It’s the Holy Spirit that connects us to the Father and the Son who are molding us to conform to mind and heart of Jesus. Without the spirit, people just go through life seeking to satisfy their fleshly desires, making money and trying to live a comfortable life. Christians are spiritually alive and they have a divine reason for living. We are servants of Christ our Lord and we live to bring people to Christ. This is what we were created to do and it is the most fulfilling life we can have on this planet.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Satan destroys by deceiving people from accepting Christ so they will remain spiritually dead. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and receive the Holy Spirit, we become spiritually alive. We can live by our flesh, but the flesh counts for nothing, except temporary pleasure, sometimes by our sinful nature. When we are spiritually alive, we experience the blessings of God feeding our souls through the Spirit. We live with hearts of love, peace, joy, and comfort, all feeding our soul continuously.

People that are spiritually dead are always seeking something to satisfy their soul, such as more money, more power, or anything in the world that brings short-term pleasure to the flesh. There is nothing in the world that can continuously feed our souls and gets more fulfilling in our soul except Christ.  The closer we are to Christ in our relationship, the more powerful are the blessing that feed our soul.  As we spiritually grow, the blessing will increase to our last breath.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14) If we drink the water from the world, we will be thirsty again.  But if we drink the living water, it will well up in us taking us to eternal life. Living water represents being spiritually alive with the blessings of God forever feeding our souls. These blessings increase until we reach Heaven, then blessings will be perfect because we will be in the presence of the Father and the Son.

Today, reap the blessings of being spiritually alive, and remember you have a divine reason for living– serving the Lord and reflecting Jesus to the world.

Prayer:  Lord, keep me spiritually live by serving Christ and pointing people to Christ.  Help me to be filled with living water.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
