We are Spiritual Warriors

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8

Through the power of God, we have victory over Satan and over our own sinful desires. God protects us from the evil one, and we will never be tempted beyond what we can bear. However, Satan and his demons watch over us to know our weakness, and has the power to influence our flesh to yield to our own sinful desires.

Our greatest enemy is our sinful fleshly desires, but God has a way for us to escape. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) We can reach this verse in our hearts when our hearts are filled with God’s divine love. Because love frees us from ourselves and places our priority on God and others. This will help us in our spiritual battle, but Satan is always going to attack us.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) Satan has a powerful temptation over our sinful fleshly desires. We can fight this temptation by instantly doing something good, such as praying, reading the Word, or call a Christian friend. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) But first we must capture the thought, then we go into a mindset of spiritual battle before our emotions take control.

The key in spiritual warfare is to take power over our sinful emotional desire, because our sinful emotional desire can rapidly move into sin.  We capture the thought, then we have a plan to kill the sinful emotional desire. The best way to overcome is call on the Lord for his power, however we are tempted by our sinful desire, and we often move our thoughts away from God. Therefore, we train ourselves when tempted, to run to the Lord with scriptures. We must develop a battle plan for victory, because we don’t like to lose, especially to Satan who want to destroy us for eternity.

Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (1 Peter 5:9) We resist the devil’s temptation because we know we are in spiritual battle, and we are ready to fight with the power of God. We have faith that the Lord will deliver us from the temptation, because he is God and all things are possible for him. The Lord can deliver us from all sin if we run to him for his power.

Today live in the power of God and overcome every temptation triggered by Satan. When tempted immediately call on the Lord for his power, with faith of sure victory. Pray without ceasing; (1 Thessalonians 5:17) This verse implies we stay in communion with the Lord which keeps us away from temptations.

Prayer:  Lord Guide me to call on you when tempted and to remain in pray continuously. In Jesus name, Amen
