We Are Servants of Christ

Posted on

“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

John 12:26

Being a servant of Christ can be the most fulfilling life possible. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all. (Mark 9:35)  A servant can be considered as first, but true satisfaction comes from serving with a secure humble heart.  When Christ sees us with a serving heart, it’s like His pleasure fills our hearts and minds.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:12) When we live to bring God’s love and truth to people, God’s love is made complete in our hearts, and His love motivates us to serve Christ.  God’s love in our hearts makes us secure in Christ and enables us to live like Jesus who served the Father.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. (1 John 4:16) Love enables us to know Christ and to seek to know Him more. God’s love in our hearts creates the circle of spiritual growth. We witness to people which drives us into the Word, prayer, and Fellowship which are the pillars of our Christian life. Word, prayer, and fellowship now bring us closer to Christ which further motivates us to witness to everyone.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) The more we know the Lord with a heart filled with God’s love, the more the Word speaks to us, the more we are in prayer, and the more the worship reaches our heart. The circle of spiritual growth continues till our last breath, brining us forever closer to the Lord and always increasing the love in our hearts which motivates us to serve the Lord and bring lost souls to Christ.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29) Those who accept Christ as their Lord and savior are predestined to conform to the image of His Son. The circle of growth is God’s plan to mold us to be like Jesus, and it is he most fulfilling life that we can possibly live. We are created to live a life like Jesus and when we live as a servant of Christ, we have life to the full.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) We can live a comfortable Christian life bringing Christ to others when the opportunity arises. As love makes us more like Jesus, we are motivated to bring Christ to everyone and we pray continually for the Lord to open doors to witness to lost souls. This is what happens when we live as the Lord’s servants.  We spiritually grow to our last breath.

Today seek to live as the Lord servant, reflecting Jesus to everyone. Be a Light for Christ whatever you are doing today.

Prayer:  Lord thank you for allowing me to be your servant. I seek your guidance today through the Spirit to bring your love to everyone. In Jesus name, Amen
