We are not of the World

Posted on

They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

John 17:16

These are the words that Jesus prayed to his Father. Jesus was not of this world and Christians are not of this world, our home is Heaven and we are ambassadors for Christ in this world. How can we live in this world and not be of the world?

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. We are created to live for Christ, and we can only do this by faith. This is real faith, trusting the Lord with our life.

The Holy Spirit allows us to live in this world yet not be of this world. Our soul lives in the Kingdom while our flesh lives in the world, enabling us to minister to the world and not be of the world. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) Our old life has died and Christ now lives in us and is revealed in us.  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4) Christ lives in us and Christ is our life, which means the Spirit guides us to reflect Christ to the world. Life is no longer centered on us, because as a new creation our life is centered on Christ.

If our life is centered on us, then our soul is part of the world. We can only be free in Christ when our life is centered on Christ and we live to serve Him ministering to the world with hearts of love. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) Christ sets us free from the world, He frees us from fear, and from emotional turmoil that comes from Satan.

Today Christ lives in you, seek his guidance to be a Light in this world. Christ is the only one who can set you free from this world. Today trust Christ with your life; he loves you perfectly and makes all things possible.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me today through the Spirit to live in your divine will. Free me from this world and carry my soul into your Kingdom, and let the Holy Spirit take control of my life. In Jesus name, Amen
