We are More than Conquerors
As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:36-37
The Lord gives us power, wisdom, and courage, to endure the evils of this world, and knowing Heaven is our home we conquer Satan and his evil tactics. We can have an attitude of victory because we know Christ is with us and guiding us through the Spirit; and Christ is always victorious. We are conquerors when we live to obey the Lord, even if we are imprisoned or killed for being a Christian, because that is the ultimate in being a conqueror.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) Christians live for eternal life, and our soul lives forever while our flesh is destined to die. Many people in this world are killed for being a Christian, and the Lord gives them his power to endure, and he will give us the same power. The only ones who can destroy our soul is self.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) We conqueror evil by doing good, by serving the Lord being a light in this dark world. The more we serve the Lord telling people about salvation in Christ, the more love God puts in our hearts. With love in our hearts, we are closer to Christ and we become powerful in conquering sin. With hearts of love, we depend on the Lord to guide us with his power to overcome our sinful nature.
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Sin comes to us from the world through our flesh, and sin is stored in our memory. When we remember our sin, the emotion powers us to sin again. We can conquer sin at the first thought, before the emotion conceives the sin into our mind.
Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (James 1:24-15) We conquer sin by capturing the thought before the emotion takes us into sin. It’s imperative we capture the thought and have a plan to escape the temptation, and the sooner we capture the thought, the easier it to escape the temptation.
Today conqueror any temptations with the power of the Spirit. Plan a procedure to conqueror all temptations, whether from Satan or from our sinful nature. Always depend on Christ being with you, and ask for his power to be victorious.
Prayer: Lord help me to conquer all temptations through the Spirit. Lord destroy the power of the flesh and give total authority to the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
