We are Free from the World
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28
If we live for our flesh we will live in fear and we are a slave to the world. But for a Christian, we know our life is in our soul and the world cannot touch us. We have overcome the fear of death because after our last breath we become a living spiritual person; and when Christ returns, we get a new young body that lasts forever.
As we approach end times the world will become more hostile against Christians, and that is happening today. Remember what I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. (John 15:20) Satan’s goal is to turn the world against God’s people, and he does by deceiving people and making them their own god, and that is why we are seeing more violence throughout the world.
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) How can we overcome the world if we are afraid of physical death? We seek to live as long as possible, so we can bring lost souls to Christ. We remain a light for Christ to our last breath, even if the church has to go underground. History shows the more Christians that are persecuted, the more people that come to Christ.
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. So what shall I choose? I do not know. I am torn between the two. I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better indeed. But it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. (Philippians 11:21-24) These are the words of Paul and they should be our words, because if we are close to Christ, we want to be with Christ. We desire to go home to be with the Lord, but we live as long as possible to point people to Christ.
Today be a light for Christ and know you have overcome the world. Christians have the power of God and we know Heaven is our eternal home.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be free from the world, but be a light for Christ to the world; to bring the truth to lost souls who are believing Satan’s lies. In Jesus name, Amen
