We are a Light for Christ
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16
Every Christian is a Light for the Lord and we do this by reflecting Jesus to everyone. Christ lives in us through the Spirit and with a heart filled with God’s love it is easy to reflect love and kindness to the world. When our hearts are filled with God’s love, it draws us closer to the Lord who fills our hearts with peace and joy in spreading the Light for Christ.
I am Your servant; give me understanding, That I may know Your testimonies. (Psalm 119:125 NASB) Being a Light for Christ, we call on the Spirit for understanding and guidance. If we are a Light for Christ, we must follow the Spirit. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) Being a Light for Christ comes from our renewed mind and heart to that of Christ which makes reflecting Jesus natural. However, we need the Lord’s guidance to keep in step with the Spirit.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. (Colossians 3:23) If we keep this verse in our hearts, Satan will have a difficult time in triggering our emotions to dim our Light for Christ. The love in our hearts is our motivation to be a Light for everyone we meet because we have a caring heart with the desire for everyone to know Christ.
The Lord will give us the ability to always be a Light in this world, if we ask for his guidance. The Lord’s power in us enables us to reflect Christ to everyone even those who oppose the light. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) We have the blessing of Christ’s power working in us, power to overcome darkness when our Light shines brightly.
Today, let the Lord’s power work in you to reflect the Light of Christ. Notice how amazing it is to remain in control through the power of Christ. He gives us power to overcome the world.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for working your power in me to be a Light, bringing the Good News to the world. Help me to be still inside and to always be guided by the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
