Do You Want What God Wants?

Posted on

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

The longer we walk with the Lord the more we want what the Lord wants for us. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him (Psalm 34:8). Our soul becomes content and fulfilled with his blessings. Just as the verse above says, when we put God first, “all these things will be given to you as well,” where “these things” are our worldly needs.

The things God wants for us are; to let him mold us to conform to the likeness of his Son, to have a close relationship with him, to be a witness for Christ, to live life to the fullest, and receive our eternal reward living in Heaven with the him. And as we become Christ-like we begin to want what God wants for us.

We all strive for love, peace, joy, rest for our souls, wisdom, confidence, security, and less worry. This is what the Lord wants for us and this is what he can provide for us. He also wants to mold us to be Christ-like and be a witness for Christ. If we desire the things in the first list and pray for them, then the Lord will guide us such that we will obtain more love, peace, and joy. The more we serve the Lord the more love, peace, and joy we experience.

When we witness to the world we need knowledge of the Word, heart of love, courage, patience, motivation, and wisdom. We pray for these things, or whatever we need to minister to others, and these things are what God wants for you. If we strive for a heart of love and for wisdom, and God desires these for you, then you are guaranteed he will guide you through the Holy Spirit to attain a heart of love and wisdom.

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13). When we pray to be more Christ-like in ministering to others, it definitely gives glory to the Father, and he will provide to you whatever you need to be more Christ-like. I pray every day for more love in my heart, peace, joy, endurance, wisdom, and guidance by the Holy Spirit when I minister to someone or teach a class. The Lord always answers this type of prayer when ministering to others.

Today pray for what you need to minister to others, because you will be praying for exactly God wants for you. The more we want what God wants, the more our prayers are answered, especially in ministering to others. If we truly trust God’s will over our own understanding, our faith will become much stronger.

Prayer: Lord, help be to be like-minded with Jesus, to want what you want for me. Through your perfect love I know what you want for me is always best and most rewarding. Lord I trust you completely, and help me to follow the Spirit as your servant. In Jesus name, Amen
