Waiting on God

Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.

Psalm 24:14

When our hearts point us in the direction we think the Lord wants us to go and we pray but time goes by with no approval from the Lord — do we keep praying and wait on the Lord, or do we continue ahead with our own plans?

In the past, I have gotten motivated and took action without the Lord’s approval, and things didn’t work out. Today, I have learned to slow down, pray, and plan what is in my heart. For example, when starting this Eternal Walk Ministry I waited almost a year for the Lord to approve. My tax accountant said I could start a ministry for tax purposes, but he didn’t recommend it because it could difficult. So I dismissed his comment until I went to global conference and saw how people had done great things for the Lord beyond their own capability, but they trusted the Lord and were successful. So I decided to try and start a ministry. After about five months, I had developed the plan with much help from other Christians and with much prayer. I prayed and asked the Lord if he wanted me to start this ministry to make something happen. The next day I met our neighbor who is a lawyer and I told her about the planned ministry. I met with her the next day and she knew exactly what to do. The next day went to a company that did websites and I was highly impressed, and we started planning the website that very day.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9) If our heart has an idea to serve the Lord, and with prayer the idea gets stronger, then start planning with continued prayer. The Lord will establish your steps and he will make it happen, just be patient. Wait on the Lord because his timing and guidance is always perfect.

Serving the Lord with patience is a blessing and makes serving more peaceful and relaxing. I have never read in the Word where Jesus got in a hurry, he seemed to live every moment with patience and purpose. So let us live every moment with patience and purpose.

Today, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:19) Living this verse will make your day peaceful and secure because you will be close to the Lord.

Prayer: Lord as I serve you today, help me to be patient and efficient in everything I do. Keep me calm and to live with purpose for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen
