Wait Patiently

Posted on

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Romans 8:25

Waiting patiently for the Lord is essential because His aim is to make us more like Jesus.  Changing our thinking and our hearts is a slow process and it depends on our motivation. Christian live in hope; hope in such things as more faith, more love in our hearts, more peace, and eternal life. God will continually mold our minds and hearts to that of Jesus if we follow the Spirit in obedience to His good, pleasing and perfect will.  We do as the Lord leads us and He changes us.  We don’t change ourselves, but God changes us through his love and power; and it takes patience. God will continue to change us and, make us more like Jesus till our last breath.

Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27:14 NASB) If we live as the Lord’s servant with Christ being our Master, we will be patient as we minister to the world and He will give us insight to His process of changing us. We can wait patiently as we live as His servant because serving Christ is rewarding and fulfilling.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)  Being still inside and communing with God is a great blessing. It slows us down physically and makes us more efficient because we think more clearly and focus better.  Our minds are not cluttered because the Lord relaxes our thoughts giving us peace and the ability to place our thoughts on Him. A mind that can focus is a relaxed mind, and a relaxed mind relaxes the body. As we are still inside with our thoughts controlled by the Spirit, being patient becomes much easier because our hope is assured.

Today, seek to be patient in every activity and note the peace that will slowly take over your thoughts. We are created to walk patiently and not rush through life, but live with a divine purpose to serve the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, give me more patience as I live to serve you because I need patience to minister to others. Keep Satan from tempting me to rush through my day, but to live every moment of the day being still inside.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
