Victory Over Satan

Posted on

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 4:4

Satan knows his time is short and he is angry; his primary purpose is to pull people away from God with his lies and deceptions. Unfortunately, many people in this world have been deceived by Satan and don’t even realize they have been deceived, while others believe his lies about their eternal life. He has deceived many Christians, causing them to walk away from God’s truth.

God has given us the power and knowledge to fight this spiritual war, with guaranteed victory. We need to use this power and learn Satan’s tactics, to fight this spiritual war. We need to fight this war because our eternal life depends on us being victorious.

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) This is a promise of God that we will never be tempted beyond what we can endure and escape. We fight Satan’s lies land deceptions with God’s Truth from the Word. That is the way Jesus won victory over Satan; Satan twisted God’s Word, but Jesus responded with the Truth of God’s Word. Matthew 4:1-11 is the scripture on how Jesus won the battle over Satan.

The most difficult spiritual battle we fight is against our own sinful will, because in this case Satan has us fighting our self. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:6-8) We are created in the image of God and it is natural for us to be guided by the Spirit; however, through Satan’s deceptions, most people in the world are guided by their fleshly desires.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:10) This is the first and most critical step to victory. We capture the thought and we immediately go to the Lord to fight the sinful thoughts with scripture of Truth. Otherwise, the temptation will be conceived in the mind, and followed by sinful behavior.  We need the power of self-control that comes from the Holy Spirit, and we practice self-control in every area of our life so we become strong spiritual warriors.

Today see yourself walking in victory over Satan and over the sinful nature. Satan knows our sinful nature, and he can trigger that nature causing us to sin, but we have the infinite power of God to overcome.

Prayer: Lord be with me today so I can victory over Satan’s attacks. Help me to be still inside and to walk in victory. In Jesus name, Amen
