Use Your Double Edged Sword
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
The Lord reveals his wisdom and power through us, but we must learn to fight with the double-edged sword he has given us. The double-edged sword is the Word of God and the battle ground is in the mind. The Word is a powerful double edged sword because it is active and alive.
The Word is discerned by the Spirit and the Spirit only speaks what he hears. Christ speaks his Word to us through the Spirit, and the better we know the Word the better we hear the Spirit. We fight Satan with the Words of truth, with the power of swinging a double edged sword The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. (John 6:63) Knowledge of the Word releases the power of God in us.
The battlefield is in the mind and victory is won when we take control of the battlefield. We take control of our mind by swinging the double-edged sword to kill any attack by Satan. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) When we attack, the Spirit tells us to grab our sword and we demolish the thought that is against the will of God.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4) Through the power of God, we are experts with the sword and victory is guaranteed just as God gave victory to David over Goliath. God has given us the power to overcome our Goliath with the double-edged sword.
Today, know you have a double-edged sword to chop down all temptations or negative thoughts from Satan. You have power over Satan so today live in victory through the power of God he works in you. Don’t ever doubt the power of God that you have, because God never fails.
Prayer: Help me to swing the double-edged sword with victory whenever Satan attacks. Let me always fight with truth and courage knowing through your power I will always have victory in Christ. Lord, thank you for working your power through me to overcome evil. In Jesus’ name, Amen
