Understanding God’s Unconditional Love
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.Genesis 1:27
Have you ever thought how God’s perfect love for humans comes from the fact that he created us in his image? His love is unconditional and sacrificial, and this love is something that people have to learn. How does one learn about this unconditional love?
First it is necessary to understand God’s love through reading scripture. Jesus became sin and took this sin to the cross to pay humanity’s debt to God. Jesus sacrificed his physical life on the cross to make redemption possible for us. In ministering to the world Christians should view others with unconditional love and make time sacrifices in order to help them. While doing this, the ministering Christian receives the reciprocal benefit of experiencing more of God’s love. The more a Christian ministers to lost souls the more of God’s love he or she experiences. It’s through the indwelling Holy Spirit that Christians receive God’s unconditional love that is then reflected to the world. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
God established the human family to exist within a loving environment. It’s through the love experienced within one’s birth family and church family that makes it easier to accept and understand God’s unconditional love. God created men and women, and he loves everyone unconditionally; the human family reflects this love in parents’ unconditional love for their own children. This is the primary way that children learn to love unconditionally.
Satan’s goal is to destroy our understanding of God’s unconditional and sacrificial love. He does this by destroying the unconditional love in the family in a variety of ways: destroying the family through divorce, taking God out of the family, and by encouraging the abortion of the unborn. All of these either destroy unconditional love or eliminate the possibility of people ever learning it. Satan is very active in the world today, enticing people to believe his lies and to implement his evil plan.
When Christians live and minister with unconditional love, they experience a deeper understanding of God’s love. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). God’s unconditional love takes away Satan’s fear and enables us to live powerfully for the Lord. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20). The Lord’s power can motivate us to do unimaginable things for His kingdom.
Today understand and accept God’s perfect love, whether you were raised in a loving Christian home, a broken home, or an ungodly home. Everyone can experience God’s love through the Spirit and through ministering to lost souls. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
Let’s Pray: Lord, fill my heart and soul with your unconditional and sacrificial love so that I can minister to the world like Jesus. Mold me to be like Jesus so I overcome my fleshly driven fear and walk in the power of your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen
