Unconditional Love
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 26:30-31
Unconditional love is agape love that comes from God into our hearts. Agape love goes beyond our emotions, because it is a natural active love shown by Christians. We show God’s unconditional love to everyone, but we never compromise the Truth. Jesus always revealed unconditional love, but always spoke the Truth.
Agape love is also a sacrificial love, because Jesus showed his love by taking our sins to the cross. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) Since Christ sacrificed his life for our sins, we sacrifice our life for Christ. We give priority to serving Christ as he leads us through life to our eternal home.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (1 Corinthians 13:4) The characteristics in the above verse are shown to everyone, because agape love is unconditional. Patient is something many people don’t have especially when driving, but Christians show kindness even while driving. Christians don’t boast and they are not proud in what they do in Christian life, because all the glory goes to God. It’s Christ guiding us through the Holy Spirit that enables us to serve the Lord.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (Matthew 5:44-45) Christians show love to everyone including their enemies, because there is no room in our hearts for hatred of people. We hate the sin people are doing, but we look for goodness in everyone, because they are created in the image of God.
All people who don’t Christ, have been deceived by Satan. Many people never read or study the Bible to find the truth, so by default they believed Satan’s lies. We show God’s love to all lost souls with a caring heart so we can bring them the truth. That’s why God fills our hearts with his unconditional love.
Today live with unconditional love for everyone, and show kindness and patience in everything. Live today with peace and joy and be a light for Christ.
Prayer: Lord guide me today to show unconditional love to everyone. In Jesus name, Amen
