Trust the Lord

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Faith in the Lord shows we know him as the sovereign God, and we trust his thoughts and his ways even when we don’t understand. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) To truly trust the Lord, we have to accept his thoughts and his ways.  It’s easier if we are closer to the Lord and understand his love and faithfulness.

If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.(Luke 14:26)  The word “hate” in this passage is used for comparison between our love for God and our love for family and self. It’s through our love for Lord and our closeness to the Lord that gives us the ability to be his servant and to trust him completely. If our life is not driven by our love to serve the Lord, then it will affect the completeness of our faith.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) The best way for us to not lean on our own understanding but to fully trust the Lord, is to dedicate our life with a heart of love as his servant with our focus on God and others. We live our life in service for the Lord as he guides us to be a light in this world.  Our hearts get filled with his love meaning we know him more. We minister to everyone, first family, God’s people, then friends, strangers, and even to our enemies. We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. (1 John 2:3)

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV) If our thoughts are on serving the Lord because trust him completely, then we will experience peace.  We are comforted that the Lord is sovereign over the world and we are his special possessions with Heaven being our home.

Today increase your faith by serving the Lord and depending on him. The more we serve and depend on the Lord, the more we know him.  The more we know him, the more we trust him.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me in the Spirit to serve you and to depend on you.  The more I depend on you, the closer I am to you and my faith increases.  Help me to fully trust you in all things and to live as your servant. In Jesus’ name, Amen
