Trade Your Anxious Moments for Peace

Posted on

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

This scripture is a promise from God telling us that he wants us to live in peace. He wants us to know that he protects our souls from the evil one, that he guides us through life by the Holy Spirit, and that our home is Heaven with the Father and the Son. He wants us to live with peace, joy, and a heart filled with love, and not to yield to our anxious moments.

Satan will attack us with anxious moments, so how do we overcome anxiety and replace it with peace? Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5). Christians must have faith that the Lord will give them his peace when called upon. When I feel anxious, I pray and tell the Lord “I will not entertain this anxious moment but will walk in peace and joy as you guide me through this day!” The more boldly we quote and believe this verse, the more powerful it will be in replacing our anxious moments with peace.

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you’ (Isaiah 41:13). We can live with peace and joy from the Spirit if we depend on the Lord. Christians must depend on the Lord, not themselves, to overcome anxiety and to be filled with peace. A Christian must ask the Lord for peace through prayer and thankfulness.

Today overcome any anxious or impatient moments with peace. When you pray, ask the Lord for peace with a thankful heart. Demand yourself to walk in peace today, trusting the Lord to guide you, because this attitude shows your faith.

Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to trade my anxious moments for your peace. Guide me through the day as I walk in faith. Thank you for being with me and filling my heart with love, peace, and joy from the Spirit. Please continue to help me to overcome any fears from the world. In Jesus name, Amen
