Time Keeps Moving On

Posted on

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

1 John 2:17

Time passes by, day by day, and we begin to realize our lives are like a vapor. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes (James 4:14). James tells us that we do not have 100% assurance that we will live through tomorrow, so how should we live our lives in view of time?

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The older we grow the more we realize that our time on earth is coming to an end. What does the future hold for us? We know that our eternal home is in heaven. We have accepted Christ and we are in the family of God, living as lights in this dark sinful world. The apostle Paul stated: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). When an old suit wears out, it is time to get a new suit. It’s the same when this perishable body wears out: The Lord gives us a new imperishable body.

Time keeps moving on and as it does, we are to make the most of everyday to lead some lost soul toward the narrow road of life. We are in the last days and people are searching for answers, because the world is becoming more evil and their lives are more and more insecure. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days (Ephesians 5:16). We have the answers, and we have the truth and the understanding of what is happening in the world. We know God’s plan for the world and his plan for people, both unbelievers and believers.

We are all travelling through time, until our time runs out. How fearful it must be for those who had the opportunity to accept Christ but refused. We walk with Christ today, serving him and knowing that heaven is our eternal home. This gives us a secure feeling, and as we get older we are able to be more eternally minded. Indeed, as our time ends, the only regret for a Christian is not being able to lead another lost soul to Christ.

Whoever lives by believing in me will never die (John 11:26). Your eternal life started the day you accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. Life will begin again after your last breath because the at that moment you will be alive in Christ. At the second coming of Christ your soul will get a new, imperishable, and younger body. At that time, we all will live on the restored earth, the garden of Eden, in the presence of Christ and the Father with perfect love, peace, joy, and contentment. Therefore, time never runs out for Christians; instead, Christians look at time as travelling down the Narrow Road toward their heavenly homes. When this life ends we go home to receive and wear our new suits.

Today see time as your journey home, but use your time wisely for the Lord. Reflect Christ to everyone and comfort lost troubled souls with the good news of Christ. Be a light for Christ in this sinful fearful world.

Let’s Pray: Lord, thank you for putting eternity in my heart and helping me to live for eternity with you. Please increase my desire to be with you in heaven as I live out my time here on earth. Lord, guide me in the Spirit and carry me through this life to my eternal home with you. In Jesus name, Amen
