Through the Eyes of God

Posted on

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

1 John 3:1

Do you take the time and try and see yourself through the eyes of God, to determine if he is pleased, angry, or sad? I seek to do this many times throughout the day, and based on scripture and conviction by the Spirit I can know what the Lord is thinking in terms of my thoughts, words, and action. If we develop the habit of seeing ourselves through the eyes of God, it makes the thoughts from the Spirit more noticeable, and it helps us to please the Lord.

And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. (John 16:8) Being sensitive to the Spirit’s conviction is a blessing because conviction gives us the determination to stay on track, especially if we have desire to be pleasing to the Lord. If we are sensitive to the Spirit, we can use conviction to keep us from sinning. For example we may be convicted to read the Word more, pray more, or encourage someone. We are always seeking to be more Christ-like, and seeing ourselves as God sees us, draws us closer to the Lord making us more Christ-like.

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3) The love the Lord has for us is more than we can imagine, and he provides everything we need to get us through life and to be with him in Heaven forever. He gives us life to the full that overcomes the world and when we serve him we live life to the full that greatly pleasing him. He wants us to know him and trust him because he is God and he is fully trustworthy.

Today take the time to see yourself through the eyes of God; then you will know if you are pleasing to God. There is no greater reward in life than pleasing God. Be sensitive to the Spirit because Satan will do whatever he can to get a foothold in your life. Remember, you are in a spiritual battle for your eternal life, and you have the power over Satan and his demons. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Prayer: Lord, make me sensitive to the Spirit and help me to see myself through your eyes. Guide me to be more Christ-like and to be a light shining in the darkening world. In Jesus’ name, Amen
