This World is Not Our Home

Posted on

For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

Hebrews 13:14

This world is not our permanent home and God did not create us to live in this fallen world. We were created to live in a perfectly sinless world with the Father and the Son, just as Adam and Eve originally lived in the Garden of Eden with God. After Adam and Eve were deceived by Satan, sin entered the world.

We are created to live in a world where we are constantly filled with love, peace, and joy; but this fallen world cannot provide this for us. However the Lord has provided a way for his people to experience love, peace, and joy from Heaven, and he provides his guidance so we can endure and overcome the fallen world. We cannot do this fully without faith and being eternally minded. If we live strictly for our flesh and its desires we are trapped by the world, but if live for our eternal soul, we know our eternal life has started while living in the flesh.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) When we are governed by the world or by our flesh, we are gaining death and losing life and peace when governed by the Spirit. Christians are governed by the Spirit, meaning we interface to the world through the Spirit walking in Godly wisdom with the Lord. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) We live by the Spirit means we are connected to the Lord and our soul is experiencing love, peace, and joy.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:25-26) We can experience as much love, peace, and joy and all the fruit of the Spirit as we desire. It’s based on our closeness to the Lord and being in the Spirit which constantly feeds our soul with the blessings from Heaven. The more faith we have, the more we depend on the Lord and the more eternally minded we become. The more our soul lives in the Spirit and the more we serve the Lord, the more blessings from Heaven feed our soul.

God didn’t abandon us in this fallen world, but sent Jesus to save us and fill us with his Spirit so we can endure and overcome the fallen world. He will carry our soul through life protecting us from the evil one, and he will return to take us to our Heavenly home. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) Through Christ we have overcome the fallen world and we wait anxiously for the home where were created to live, Heaven, with the Father and the Son.

Today, realize this temporary world is not your permanent home, Heaven is your permanent home. Be eternally minded today and live for your eternal soul and not for any sinful fleshly desires.

Prayer: Lord thank you for Christ and his sacrifice for my sins, giving me eternal life. Guide me in the Spirit to be eternally minded. Help me to minister to others who may not know this world is not their home and point them to eternal life through Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
