There is no Condemnation

Posted on

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death

Romans 8: 1-2

It is impossible for us to perfectly obey the law (10 commandments) because we have inherited the sinful nature from Adam. Christ took our sins to the cross, and those who except Christ as there Savior and Lord have forgiveness of their sins. We are forgiven if we fight sin, seek forgiveness with Godly sorrow, and overcome through the power of the Spirit. We cannot successfully fight sin if we condemn ourselves when we fall to temptation.

Christians walk with an attitude of victory and we become stronger spiritual warriors as we learn to fight the spiritual battles. If we condemn ourselves we destroy the attitude of victory and weaken our ability to fight sin through Christ. We are critical of self, losing confidence in self and in Christ, which means we could easily be walking away from the Lord with the attitude of giving up. Instead we are convicted by the Spirit and we run to God seeking forgiveness, and for his power to fight the sinful behavior. The Spirit instills a fighting spirit in us, and we will continue to fight and pray until we overcome the sin. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1John 4:4).

The heart of a Christian desires to overcome all temptations, however the flesh keeps us from being perfect. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) If we have the attitude of victory in our heart and we continue to fight sin with a repentant heart, then we are pleasing to God. We will eventually overcome once we have found the escape. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.  And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Whatever the temptation, victory is certain if we seek the Lord’s, love, wisdom, power, and strength.

We are certainly not happy when we sin because the feeling of freedom in Christ disappears. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) We can never be free in Christ if we condemn ourselves and lose the spirit of victory in Christ. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus. (1 Corinthians 15: 7)

If we condemn ourselves the attitude of our heart will change, and we start to give up on the Lord freeing us. Condemnation is toxic to our Christian walk and can greatly damage our spiritual life. Condemnations are the steps to total defeat.

Today, experience the satisfaction of overcoming Satan’s temptations. The Lord has given you the power over Satan and his demons through the Holy Spirit. Every time you fight off a temptation today, visualize Satan’s defeat through the power you have in Christ. Walk with a repentant heart and pray for a heart of love, power, wisdom, and strength; and seek to overcome the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4).

Prayer: Lord if I yield to temptation in thought, word, of action today; take away self-condemnation, and put the attitude of fighting this spiritual war in my heart. Fill my heart with the attitude of victory and may the feeling of freedom in Christ forever get stronger in my mind and heart. Thank you Lord, for your forgiveness and for the freedom that comes from Christ my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, Amen
