The Workers are Few

Posted on

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."

Matthew 9:37

Jesus stated the harvest is plentiful, especially in this age where people are seeking truth. Christians have the truth because God has revealed it through his Word. Christians can see people and the world from a spiritual perspective and can discern how Satan’s lies affect people, how God’s is currently responding, and how he will respond in end times.

The workers are few, therefore it is critical that we are among those workers and that we recruit other Christians to be workers for the Lord. The Lord calls all Christians to follow the Spirit and to be witnesses for Christ. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did (1 John 2:6). In the Gospels we can see how Jesus lived, proclaiming the good news wherever he went. Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness (Matthew 9:35). We are to search for opportunities to proclaim the goods news of Christ to the world.

We are given the responsibility to reflect Christ to people by our words and actions. Nothing pleases God more than for us trust him to lead us by the Spirit to reflect Christ’s love to others. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20). The Lord is always with us when we minister to others, through the Spirit and through his presence.

Satan is fighting with his lies to capture people and to lead them away from God; we need to fight with God’s truth to lead people to God. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4). The Holy Spirit gives us power over Satan and his demons; remember that it’s not people we are fighting against, it’s Satan. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm (Ephesians 6:12). We minister to people and we pray through the power of Jesus to keep Satan and his demons away from them. Pray that the Lord will keep the powers of this dark world from feeding lies to people.

Today be a worker for the Lord and remember that every soul is precious to God. Be a tireless worker bringing the Lord’s compassionate, loving and caring heart to people. Never give up ministering to someone who has a desire to listen; instead, bring others to help minister to that person. Pray that Christ will send away all the evil forces of darkness from that person. God’s love is victorious over Satan’s evil.

Let’s Pray: Lord, give me your power to fight this Spiritual war and to always call on your strength to overcome the evil forces of darkness. Help me to have a compassionate heart for all people including those that Satan has captured by his lies. I pray for insight to understand the people I minister to, and that the Spirit will give me the words and scriptures that lost people need to hear. In Jesus name, Amen.
