The Spiritual War Starts in the Mind

Posted on

For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

Our mind is revealed by our thoughts, and God knows all about us from our thoughts. Our Spiritual war begins in our minds, because everything we do normally begins by our thoughts. In our thoughts we can entertain the things of God, or we can entertain sinful thoughts; and our thoughts can lead to our words and actions.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.  (Romans 12:2) Our brain rewires based on our thoughts, if we think Godly thoughts, our brains will rewire to the ways of God. The more time we think Godly thoughts the quicker our minds will rewire.

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. (Colossians 3:2) The more we are in the Word, the more we pray, and the more we fellowship with Christians, the more our minds are on things of God. The more we minister to others, by teaching the Word, helping and ministering to others, the more our thoughts are on Godly things. It is important to renew our minds, because God knows everything about us through our thoughts, and he knows our motivation for everything we do for him.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) Satan’s goal is to plant a poor picture in our minds about serving Christ, but actually serving Christ is the most rewarding thing we can in this life. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) We either serve Satan or we serve Christ, that is the only choice we have; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23-24)

Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16) We are predestined to conform to the image of Christ, to have the mind of Christ and a heart filled with God’s unconditional love. This is how we control our thoughts to make them pleasing to God, and with a heart of love will live to bring Christ to people.

Today control your thoughts through the Word, prayer, and Christian fellowship, because the spiritual war is the mind and since we cannot be perfect, we fight this battle to the day we die, and fight with the power of God.

Prayer: Help me to win the battle of the mind, to have the mind and heart of Christ. Keep changing me by filling my heart with your divine love, because love motivates me to tell others about salvation in Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
