The Spirits are in Control
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:12
We are spiritual people living in a physical body. Our spirit is our thoughts, personality, and will; God is spiritual, and Satan is spiritual. Therefore, everything is controlled by the spirit, and our spirits can be governed by God, or governed by the world. The spiritual battle that we all fight is what governs our spirit?
The only way to fight this spiritual war is with the power of God, because our flesh has a natural desire for things of the world. For non-Christians their brains have been wired to the ways of the world, and their brains drive their thoughts. For Christians, our thoughts our spiritually driven by the Holy Spirit, and as our thoughts change our minds rewire.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) We let the Holy Spirit control our thoughts and we stop thinking sinful things of the world, then our brains will rewire and support the ways of God. Our brains are being renewed to the ways of God as we obey the Word, and our Godly thoughts become a new way of thinking. When we experience God’s commands and blessings in our life, it changes our hearts, and that’s important because we live out of our hearts.
We change by the power of the Holy Spirit, which changes our thoughts from the ways of the world to the ways of God. Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6) We cannot change without the power of Christ guiding us through the Holy Spirit. God changes us through a church family, the Word, and prayer; because it helps us to change our thinking. If we don’t stop thinking the sinful worldly ways, our minds will never renew. The more we stop the old ways of thinking and the more we start thinking the new ways of God, the faster our minds will renew.
Today remember that the spirits are in control, and that your spirit is governed by Christ. Capture thoughts from Satan, who is trying to get a foothold into your life. Satan wants your spirit controlled by your fleshly desires, and not controlled by God.
Prayer: Lord guide me through the Holy Spirit and give me the power to destroy any temptations of Satan. In Jesus name, Amen
