The Spirit Guides Us

Posted on

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

John 16:13

The purpose of the Spirit is to guide us through each day, and it is Christ who guides us through the Spirit. We have the divine wisdom and knowledge of Christ who guides us, and he knows exactly what we will face each day. Christ will prepare us for the future if we ask for his guidance.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8) If we have faith, we will ask the Lord for his guidance in every situation, rather than pick and choose when we need the Lord.  It’s our advantage to always have the Lord’s help and guidance in every situation in life.

For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 2:11) It’s the Holy Spirit that enables us to know the thoughts of God, to know the Word, and to know the thoughts of Christ, which he places in our minds. If we are still inside, we can learn to recognize the thoughts from Christ.

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. (Isaiah 58:11) The Lord desires to guide through life with his courage and strength, and it’s up to us to hear his guidance.  We can hear the Lord through the Word, through prayer, through our conscience, and through our thoughts from Christ. And it’s a great blessing when we hear from Christ as he guides us through life. And the more we know the Word the more we can recognize the thoughts Christ places in our minds.

Today be still inside and ask the Lord for his guidance, and to be Christ-like speaking the words from Christ.  We always need Christ to be with us, especially when ministering to others.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to be still inside, and notice Christs words in my mind and heart. In Jesus name, Amen
