The Sovereignty of God
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
God is the creator of all things, he is sovereign over all things, and he is the creator of love. How should we feel as Christians, knowing that God is sovereign and knowing that his divine purpose is to have a family in Heaven? But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
If the Lord has all authority in Heaven and on earth, how should we view the tragedy and evil in the world? Satan’s goal is to destroy the church, which is God’s people, but God’s sovereignty will make this impossible. Therefore we can walk in victory because nothing can separate us from God, except ourselves. Satan gets a victory only when a soul is separated from God.
It is imperative that we live in the sovereignty of God’s love and protection. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Through the sovereignty and power of God in our lives, we can overcome any temptation from Satan, including physical death, because God has limited Satan so that we can never be tempted beyond our means to overcome.
During the end times people will search for an answer to satisfy their consciences. Satan is busy influencing the world through his lies to satisfy their fleshly desires; we fight Satan’s lies by bringing God’s love and truth to their souls. When we remember God’s sovereignty is with us and his power is in us, we can be a powerful light for love and truth through Christ.
With our hearts filled with God’s love and our minds knowing that he is sovereign, we can let Christ work through us with confidence. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20). Knowing God’s sovereignty and his love for us, we can live with his power within us. We now live with a powerful faith that pleases the Lord and blesses us.
Today know the infinite power of God, and know that his power is with you because he loves you perfectly. Let this love destroy any fear that comes from Satan, and let the truth of Christ in you destroy any of Satan’s lies. Today walk with your mind and heart filled with the Lord’s courage to minister to this sinful world.
Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to always know that you are sovereign over Heaven and earth. Take away any fear that is produced when I see people blinded by Satan’s lies. Guide me in bringing your truth to overcome Satan’s lies, and bringing light to overcome the darkness in this world. In Jesus name, Amen.
