The Purpose of Life

Posted on

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

Psalm 138:8

When we live the life for the purpose God created for us, living with the unique set of talents he has given is, we will a live a divine life that is fulfilling and rewarding; and Heaven will be our eternal home.   If we find in the end that Heaven is not our home, it means we lived this life for the wrong purpose. The purpose for our lives is clearly given in his Word, and it is the most rewarding life we can live because we are created in the image of God.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; (Romans 8:6-7) Those who are governed by their fleshly desires are living for their earthly life, but those who live governed by the Spirit are living for eternity with life and peace. Those living by the Spirit have the Lord’s guidance and they are a Light for Christ, seeking opportunities to tell the world about Christ.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14) If we live following the Spirit we will remain on the narrow road, and when the Lord changes our hearts with his divine love, we will be travelling down the middle of the narrow road. We are living according to our purpose, motivated by hearts filled with God’s love, and we pray for his help to minister those on the broad road.

God is our judge for eternal life, and how he judges is given in his Word. And if we know how he judges us we will live according to his will, which will be the purpose of our life. And we always give priority to our purpose, because the consequences are eternal.

Today pray the Lord guides you according to the purpose he created you. Seek to do divine work according to your talents, and seek to obey the Word reflecting the fruit of the Spirit.

Prayer; Lord guide me to live the purpose that you created me, and help me to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
