The New Life

Posted on

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

When we accept Christ, we are destined to be molded to conform to the likeness of his Son. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29) For all that accept Christ as their Savior are foreknown and we are predestined to conform to the image of his Son. This means our minds are renewed and our hearts are changed. We have a new life — the life we were created to live.

And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 10:38-39) We die to the old life and we live for Christ as a new creation. The old life has died and the new more fulfilling life is here. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. (Galatians 2:20)

The new life that Christ gives is far better than the old life because the Holy Spirit lives in us filling us with God’s love that sets us free. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) Christ sets us free from bondage to the world, and the closer we are to the Lord the more freedom we experience. The world cannot offer freedom that compares to the freedom we have in Christ, in fact the world seeks to make us slaves.

The new life sets us free from bondage to the world because we have overcome the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) Being free and overcoming the world is a process. The longer we walk with the Lord, the more we seek him with all our hearts, the more love we have in our hearts and the more motivated we are to serve him, the more we overcome the world.

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14) The old life is on the broad road and the new life is on the narrow road to eternal life. On the narrow road, there is love, peace, and joy form the Spirit and there is freedom as walk toward the Light with faith in our Lord.

Today, be aware that you are new creation in Christ being molded to likeness of his Son. Picture yourself on the narrow road, at the end of the road see the heavenly Light with Jesus reaching out to you. Christ will guide you through your day every day until you reach the end of the road to your new Heavenly home.

Prayer: Lord, remind me that I am a new creation in Christ and you are molding me to be Christ-like. Thank you for freeing me and filling my heart with your love, peace, and joy that I can reflect to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen
