The Lord Knows our Thoughts
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways. And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:9
The Lord knows our every thought therefore he knows everything about us. God knows us better than we know ourselves, and he knows exactly what we need to be more like Christ. And this is great advantage because we cannot see ourselves as God sees us. We live in the flesh therefore we are perfect, but God is prefect, and He is our perfect judge. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. (1 Corinthians 4:4)
The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5) The Lord made this statement just before he flooded the earth, because he knew the evil hearts of the people. Only Noah and his family were saved from the flood because God told Noah how to build the Ark. This shows us that God knows our thoughts from our hearts, independent what good we do; it’s the motivation in our hearts that defines the type of person we are.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) We pray that the Holy Spirit will prompt us when a sinful thought occurs. Every sinful thought we have comes from Satan, and we have the power of Christ to capture that thought and change it to a thought pleasing to God. God will always provide a way to overcome any of Satan’s Attacks. The problem we have is our own justification or our sinful emotion. If we justify our behavior, we have convinced our self that is okay with the Lord, and when our emotion drives us, we need to capture the thought and the emotion, which can be difficult for us.
Satan and his demons know our weaknesses, and tempts our weakness at the opportune time, but we can call on the Lord who knows our weakness and He will give us divine strength to overcome Satan. We are in spiritual battle, and we fight evil through the infinite power of the Lord, and we can live in victory, even over our sinful emotions. When we capture the thought, we ask the Lord to kill the sinful emotion, and to change our emotions for His glory.
Today capture every sinful thought and emotion, ask the Lord to destroy both thought and emotion, because he knows what you are thinking, and he knows our emotion. We always have victory in Christ if we call on Christ with the faith that he will give us victorious over our emotions and thoughts. If the Lord knows our thoughts, so he can change us to more like Christ.
Prayer: Let the Spirit guide me to capture every thought and emotion; and call for your divine power to overcome. In Jesus name, Amen
