The Language of God

Posted on

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

Isaiah 40:8

loThe Word is the language of God and it endures forever. The more we know the Word, the closer our relationship is with the Lord.  The Word is the foundation of the Christian life.  Without the Word, would there be a Christian life?  Jesus answered, “It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) The Word is the mouth of God, and we live by every word.  The Word is never outdated because mankind is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  We are all judged by the Word.

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13) When Christ returns, He is called the Word of God implying we are being judged according to the truth given in God’s Word.  We can believe anything we desire, but we are judged only by God’s Word.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5) If we are to live by the Spirit, then we must know the Word.  The more we know the Word, the more we will recognize the Spirit’s guidance. Our communication into the spiritual world is through the Word of God.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105) The Word tells us how to live according to God’s will, living how we are created. Life to the full only comes by living according to the Word and not by the way of the world. Satan is the ruler of the air, and he will attempt to deceive us to live in the sinful short-term pleasures of this world. Life is only fulfilling when live by the Word.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) The word is virtually meaningless unless we do what it says.  Obeying the Word requires the power of God, driven by a heart filled with love. As we obey the Word, God changes us, filling our heart with his love. Without the Word, we would never change, or know how to walk according to God’s will, or have hearts filled with his divine love.

Today, know the Word is the foundation of the Christian life. Obey the Word through the power of God, otherwise, obeying the Word can be a struggle. As the Lord fills our hearts with his love, obeying the Word becomes natural and desirable.

Prayer: Lord, help me to know your Word and your divine commands. Fill my heart with your love so I will be motivated to know the Word and have closer relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
