The Harvest is Plentiful
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”Matthew 9:37-38
In the world today, the harvest is plentiful because there is uncertainty about the future. This a prime time to tell people about the security and eternal life that comes from Christ. The world is looking for answers, and we have the answers from the Word.
It is important to ask the Lord of the harvest because we depend on the Lord to open doors so we can minister to lost souls. If we pray each day for the Lord to lead us in our ministry, the love that motivates us to follow the Spirit will be revealed. Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8) These are the words of Isaiah and are they the words from us? With our hearts filled with God’s love, we can always say, send me.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10) God created us with talents to fulfill good works that He calls us to do. The talents God has given us may be hidden: my worst talents was teaching, public speaking, and writing, both in high school and college. Today, teaching, public speaking, and writing are all critical to the ministry the Lord has called me to do. When the Lord calls us to do something, we know through Christ and the Spirit he will reveal the talent within us.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) God created us to minister to the world, and through the Spirit Christ lives within us giving us his power. When we minister in the power of Christ, we will experience comfort and peace. We are created to let Christ live in us, guiding us to be a Light on the hill, and it is the most fulfilling life we can experience.
Today, realize the harvest is plentiful and show the joy in your heart that comes from knowing Christ. Pray that the Lord will guide you in your ministry, pray for scriptures and His divine words, and, pray for a compassionate heart.
Prayer: Lord guide me to minister because the harvest is plentiful. Fill my heart with your love and motivate me to bring Christ to lost souls. In Jesus name, Amen
