The Greatest Gift – Christ

Posted on

the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

We have eternal life because Christ voluntarily took our sins to the cross. We accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and he gives us life to the full, guides us to overcome the world, and leads us into Heaven.  There is nothing in this world that can take the place of knowing you have eternal life. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? (Mark 8:36)

We know in our hearts that Christ has given us the greatest gift, and we realize that Christ died for our sins to offer sinful us a way to eternal life. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) How can we not accept Christ as the greatest gift, and surrender to the perfect love the Father and the Son has for us?

For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again.  No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father. (John 10:17-18 NASB95) Jesus voluntarily sacrificed his life.  He was flogged and crucified because of his love for the Father and his love for us. It was the power of the Father’s love that enabled Jesus to endure the pain of flogging, crucifixion, and carrying our sins to the cross.

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. (Luke 22:42-43) Jesus was living in the flesh and needed the Father’s strength to endure the pain and suffering for our sins. The verses of Jesus in the garden reveal the power of the love that Jesus and Father have for you and me. Jesus taking the world’s sin to the cross is the greatest event in the history of the world. Christ is truly the greatest gift because what Christ has given us can never be found in the world.

Today, realize Christ is the greatest gift and depend on him to guide you through your day. Never forget that your eternal home is Heaven.

Prayer: Thank you for saving me through Christ. My life belongs to Christ because of his great love that guides me through this life into Heaven. The greatest gift I have ever received is Christ.   Thank You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
