The God of All Comfort

Posted on

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

1 Corinthians 1:3-4

God has the power to comfort us if we have the faith to seek his comfort. But Jesus looked at them and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26) If put our faith that all things are possible for God, we can pray for comfort and we will receive comfort. God will do things for us that we cannot do for ourselves.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24) If we do everything as doing it for the Lord, we will reap comfort in everything we do, and we will do things better with Christ’s help. The more we serve Christ the more comfort he puts in our hearts.

This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your word has revived me. (Psalm 119:50) The more we read the Word and the more we pray, the more comfort we have. If we serve the Lord pointing people to Christ, we gain more comfort. Reading the word, praying, and serving the Lord; all bring us closer to the Lord, and the closer we are to the Lord the more comfort we receive.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) The people in this world getting more anxious, but they don’t realize that the Lord can bring them peace that transcends all understanding. How can we be comforted if we don’t have peace? As Christians, we have comfort with peace and hope, because Heaven is our home.

Today ask the Lord for comfort, peace, and hope, and reflect it to others. The world is anxious but we are relaxed because we have divine comfort from God.

Prayer:  Lord enable me to live with divine comfort and peace in all things.  In Jesus name, Amen
