The Christian Life is Prayer

Posted on

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

The Lord says in this promise to be humble, pray, seek Him, and repent. This means we depend on the Lord and pray seeking to know him. Prayer is essential in serving the Lord and prayer shows our faith and dependence on the Lord. The Lord tells us to pray without ceasing which means we commune with the Lord throughout the day with a thankful, praising heart that seeks his divine guidance.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV) We are the Lord’s servants and we are guided by the Spirit to do the Lord’s will.  We call on the Lord in prayer during our day, otherwise we may doing our own will. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:7) We know the Word and we call on the Lord for the scriptures we need because the Lord knows the hearts of the people to whom are ministering.

The more we pray, the more we depend on the Lord and need his guidance. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) We surrender our life to Christ if we want him to live in us through the Spirit.  And the power of Christ in us comes through prayer.

We pray without ceasing with a thankful heart and we are thankful that we can go to God in prayer because of Christ. The more we pray, the more powerful our prayers become. Imagine if every Christians in the country united in prayer and prayed for their country, what the Lord could do in this spiritual war. First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4 ESV)

Today, pray throughout the day showing your faith and dependence on the Lord. Fight this spiritual war through prayer and through Christ by bringing the Truth to the world. Remember the power of Christ lives in you, so pray for his guidance and power.

Prayer:  Lord, fill my days with prayer seeking your power in this spiritual war and guide me to do your will.  I can do nothing without Christ, but through Christ I can do all things.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
