The Blessing of Helping Others

Posted on

The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

Proverbs 22:9

We are blessed when we help others, both in their physical needs and spiritual needs. We have God’s love in our hearts and we care about the needs of others, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world. All Christians are the family of God.  Although the family is spread all over the world, we are spiritually connected through prayer.

If you love me, keep my commands. (John 14:15)  With love in our hearts, we obey Christ through the Spirit and we minister to souls in the church and outside of the church. We minister by helping those with physical needs and, simultaneously, with their spiritual needs. Notice in Matthew 24:31-46, Jesus talks about helping others and he lists all physical needs. If we truly care about others, we will care about their physical needs and we will minister to them no matter where they are in Christ. God’s love in our hearts directs out us to lost souls and hurting souls.

As we minister and help others, the Lord’s contentment fills our soul, because it’s our Godly nature. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. (Hebrews 13:16) Serving our Lord by helping and ministering to others is fulfilling and pleasing to the Lord. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. (Psalm 34:8)

The more we serve the Lord, the more love fills our hearts and the more fulfilling serving becomes. Whenever I am in a Bible class, I am in the Spirit and after the class, I am on a spiritual high for hours.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) As our mind renews and our heart changes, we experience the Lord’s good, pleasing, and perfect will and the peace and calmness from serving the Lord is better than gold.

Today, serve the Lord by being a light for Christ and notice the fulfillment you feel  when you help and minister to someone.  Live in your Godly nature and receive the blessing that only God can bring. God blesses are far better than anything the world has to offer.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me today to be light for Christ.  Open my heart to seek someone that needs an encouraging word or a prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen
