Temporary or Eternal
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.James 4:14
This live is short and James describes it as a vapor, and when take our last breath our spirit leaves the body and we live forever. The fact is that we never die and we live for eternity in Heaven where life is perfect, or we live with Satan and his demons. This short life is the only chance we have to live the life God has created us to live, and Heaven will be our home. People make many wise decisions in their life, but many people don’t make a wise decision about their own eternal life.
He has also set eternity in their heart. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) God has set eternity in our hearts for the purpose of knowing we can choose eternal life. But Satan tempts all people to live for their temporary fleshly desires and forget about eternity, and this temptation can carry into the lives of Christians if they have little thought about eternity. If we live each day with eternity in our thoughts, we will more driven to live the day serving the Lord and reflecting Christ. Everyone will face eternity which means we will live forever, and the choice where we live is ours.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) If our thoughts are on things above it will help us to be eternally minded. Satan wants our thoughts on temporary earthly things, hoping to keep our minds off eternity. Christians who find the things of God more interesting and fulfilling than things of the world, are living life to the full and are closer to Christ than to the world.
And when the Pharisees had demanded of Him when the Kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, “The Kingdom of God cometh not with outward show. Neither shall they say, ‘Lo, it is here!’ or ‘Lo, it is there!’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20-21) The kingdom of God is within us and if we keep our thoughts on things above, our spirit will be living in the Kingdom. Our spirit can stay in the kingdom at all times when our hearts reflect Christ at all times. We can do our work here on earth and at the same time serve the Lord, and that will help keep our thoughts on eternity and things above.
Today be eternal minded and whatever you do today do it for the Lord. This will enable you to stay in the Kingdom and reflect Jesus to the world.
Prayer: Lord keep eternity in my heart, and as I do my earthly tasks, guide me to do everything for Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
