Surrender to Christ and Be Free

Posted on

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1

How can we surrender to Christ and be free? This is a question that the non-believing world asks. The truth is we are either free in Christ or we are in slavery to the world. Does the world have power over how we think and feel or does the Spirit have power over how we think and feel?

Freedom in Christ is process that takes time because the mind must be renewed to the ways of God. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) The Lord changes our thinking which slowly changes the wiring in our brains, then we know and experience the Lord good, pleasing, and perfect will.

As our mind renews and we recognize the perfect love God has for us, we start being free in Christ. As we minister to the world, God’s love begins to fill our hearts and His perfect love casts out fear. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear. (1 John 4:18). As His love fills our hearts, our faith increases to where it pleases God. We accept his will over our will and we live as his servant.

We trust the Lord knowing he will guide us through anything. With faith and our new identity in Christ we are now overcoming the world. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession. (1 Peter 1:9) This verse gives us an identity from God and a high self-worth which makes us humble and secure because Christ lives in us.

With faith that pleases God, security in Christ, less fear, and our new identity, we are now overcoming the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) When we have overcome the world, we are no longer in slavery to the world.

Freedom in Christ means we are not controlled by the world but by the Spirit. We interface to the world through the Spirit as Christ guides our life with his wisdom and power. This is freedom in Christ.

Today, strive to be free in Christ and walk in the wisdom and power of God. Whenever the world starts to take control, go the Lord for his counsel. Know in your heart the Lord will carry you through any situation in life, because all things are possible for God and he loves and cares for you perfectly.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be free in Christ so I can reflect this freedom to the world. It’s only through your love and divine power that I can overcome the world and be free. Thank you Lord for setting me free in this life and perfectly free in Heaven with you. In Jesus name, Amen
