Strong Thinking

Posted on

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

Proverbs 23:7

Sometimes in our life we decide positively that we will achieve something and nothing is going to stop us. We can apply this same positive strong thinking to the promises of God and we receive divine power from God to help us to victory. When we think with strong conviction it reveals to God that we believe his promises and trust him. If we can think strong we live strong and if we think weak we live weak.

When we think strong in the Lord we believe his promises and seek to live his promises with conviction. For example take the following promise from God; So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10). We believe this promise and we tell ourselves that we will not walk in fear; we give our fear to the Lord and we choose to walk in peace today, knowing God is holding us in his righteous right hand! We say this with conviction and we demand our self to walk in God’s comfort today. Every day I strongly speak God’s promises, telling myself this is the way I choose to live today. When we seek to fulfill God’s promises with strong conviction and determination, this pleases the Lord and he helps us with his divine power.

Strong thinking is a good technique to conquer self-control. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23, and the more we exercise self control through the power of strong thinking, the easier it becomes. Take the following verse for example; My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, (James 1:19) We take this verse and demand of ourselves, today I will force myself to listen before I speak and I will not speak directly from my emotions but will seek Godly wisdom! You may say this in a thought, you may speak it, or you may speak it loudly over and over, whatever it takes to make it a demanding commitment for the day. The more we do this, the easier it gets because strong thinking helps to renew the mind, and being quick to listen and seek Godly wisdom becomes more natural.

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57) God has given us the power of strong thinking, enabling us to be victorious in Christ. We are created to have victory in Christ and victory comes through the power of God. Therefore when we are victorious, God is pleased and we reap great satisfaction and contentment. When we overcome sinful desires from Satan, the contentment that comes from victory is more rewarding that the short term pleasure of the sin. Victory over sin brings us closer to the Lord, with more freedom in Christ.

Today demand yourself to walk in peace, and let nothing steal it from you. Even if you go thorough difficulty or hardship, balance it with the Lord’s peace, and trust the Lord to carry you through with his love, wisdom, and power. Let strong thinking increase your faith. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Prayer: Today Lord I will walk in victory and I will walk in peace, because I know this pleases you, to live strong in your promises. Lord I know you are with me today and I depend on your guidance and your strength, because you are God and all things are possible. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen
