Strength from God

Posted on

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Does life ever become overwhelming and you feel like you can’t take it anymore? Endless tasks to complete, problems arise, and you are emotionally and physically tired. Or perhaps life is good and one day you go to work and they tell you there has been a budget cut and your job has been eliminated. We are not designed to handle multiple difficulties or tragedies at once. How does God expect us to handle multiple tasks, difficulties, and tragedies?

When we are overwhelmed feeling like the world is caving in on us, we need God’s strength and wisdom to lift us up and carry us through the storm. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:41) This verse is easy to read, but when we are in distress we might not feel like we are soaring on the wings of eagles. Whatever we are going through in life, we struggle through it on our own strength and wisdom, or we can choose to trust the Lord and walk is his strength, wisdom, and power. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) If we depend on the Lord, following his divine will and depending on his wisdom and power, he promises to carry us through and storm. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

How important is our attitude when we are overwhelmed and struggling in the storms of life? If we really trust the Lord, we can place our hope in him because we are assured the Lord will bring us victory. In the short term we need support, emotional support and perhaps financial support. This is where our church family can give emotional support, prayer, and through the benevolence team for financial support. With our trust and hope in the Lord and support from our church family, we can begin soaring on the wings of eagles and fly through the storm.

We may have gone through a storm in our life, and we can expect more storms, some small and some big. Does it get easier the more we experience God in our lives? From my experience the answer is yes. However tragedies such a deaths or illness will always bring sadness and hurt. That is when we run to God for his strength to endure the tragedies the world places in our life. This is the attitude that pleases God and he gives us his strength to endure each day.

Today know the Lord will give you the strength to endure whatever is going on in your life or anything you are facing today. All things are possible for God and he loves you perfectly. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

Prayer: Lord, give me strength to endure what I am going through in my life, and guide me through this day with your power and wisdom. Lord I depend on you for strength, wisdom, and divine guidance, as I seek to serve you by being a light is this world. Thank you for your love and for the eternal life waiting for me. In Jesus name, Amen
