What Steals Our Freedom in Christ?

Posted on

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:1

If we are free in Christ, then we are not in a yoke of bondage. Satan will use anything he can to take away our freedom in Christ, but we can remain free through his love and power to overcome the world. Many people don’t know the Lord and think they are free, but Satan has fed his lies telling people that Christianity takes away their freedom. Lost souls have no idea what it is like to walk with the Lord and to be free in Christ. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36)

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) The Lord promises that through faith in him, he will enable us to overcome the world. If we follow the Spirit and study the Word, we will understand how he enables us to overcome any temptation Satan can bring to us. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13) If we truly believe this verse then we will live it, knowing with certainty that the Lord will give us his strength to follow his divine guidance.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) Have faith that pleases God, a faith that trusts the Lord with all your heart with no doubt, a faith that fully trust his ways and his timing, a faith that you can do all things through the strength he gives you. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Satan tempts us to doubt the Lord by having us place partial trust in our own understanding.

If we have the faith that pleases God, then we can live as his servant always putting him first, then we have overcome the world and are living free in Christ. We trust all of God’s divine promises and perfect love, knowing there is nothing in our lives that we cannot overcome with God’s divine power. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Today trust the Lord, live as his servant and be free in Christ. Tell yourself you are free in Christ, heaven is your home, and reflect the peace and joy to others. This can open the hearts of people to hear about the forgiveness and hope that only comes from Christ.

Prayer: Lord thank you for freeing me in Christ and let me reflect this freedom to others. Let the Spirit open the hearts of others to experience the peace, joy, and freedom that Christ’s promises his people. In Jesus name, Amen
